BRIDGE 8 – VT ROUTE 17  NEW HAVEN, VT

Existing Bridge 8 over Otter Creek on VT Route 17

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) in conjunction with CCS Constructors, Inc. will be replacing Bridge 8 on VT Route 17 over the Otter Creek in New Haven, Vermont.  The new bridge that will be slightly longer and include two 11’ travel lanes with 4’ shoulders on each side.  Also included in this bridge replacement project will be a new fishing access northwest of the bridge.  This fishing access will include parking and a boat launch.

Beginning October 9, 2017, CCS will begin preliminary construction work.   This work should have little to no impact on the traveling public.  Work will resume in 2018 and will include a closure to thru traffic on Route 17 beginning June 4, 2018 until August 03, 2018.  During this closure motorists will be detoured via signage using VT Route 7 and VT Route 22A.  The anticipated completed date is October 04, 2018.

Prior to work commencing in 2018 a public meeting will be held at a time/place to be determined.  This meeting will allow people to learn more about the project and ask any questions that they may have.

The following if the anticipated work schedule for the week beginning Monday, November 13, 2017:

Due to the increased volume of water in the Otter Creek work has been suspended.  If an when the water recedes work will continue on building the cofferdam.


The following if the anticipated work schedule for the week beginning Monday, November 20, 2017:

Monday thru Wednesday:

  • Weather permitting, work resumes on building a cofferdam and causeway to allow access to build a new pier.

Thursday & Friday:

  • No work due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

This work should have little to no impact on the traveling public and pedestrians.

Route 11/Chester Road Culvert Project

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) in conjunction with Cold River Bridges will be installing a temporary bridge on VT Route 11 at Bridge #57 just east of Breezy Hill Road and/or 1.3 miles west of the VT 106 & River Street intersection.  This bridge will be installed with a northern shift in the roadway thus taking traffic off the sinking eastbound travel lane.  The installation of the temporary bridge should be completed by September 1, 2017.

This VTrans project installing a temporary bridge on VT Route 11 at Bridge #57 just east of Breezy Hill Road and/or 1.3 miles west of the VT 106 & River Street intersection is complete.

 We realize that we didn’t meet the targeted completion date of September 1, 2017 so on behalf of VTrans and myself, we would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding during this install of the temporary bridge.

VTrans is actively working on the engineering and design for the culvert replacement.  A date is not set for construction however before any construction begins notifications will be sent out.

VT 116/Hinesburg Road Culvert Replacement

VT 116/Hinesburg Road Culvert Replacement

 

The Vermont Agency of Transportation in conjunction with CCS Constructors, Inc. will begin the culvert replacement on VT Route 116/Hinesburg Road at Potash Brook.  The anticipated start date June 05, 2017 with a completion date of September 01, 2017.

This project will cause Hinesburg Road/VT Route 116 to be closed to thru traffic between Williston Road and Kennedy Drive beginning in mid to late June 2017.  Pedestrians/bicycles will still have the ability to cross the construction site via a temporary bridge.

 

 

 


VT ROUTE 116/HINESBURG ROAD IS OPEN TO THRU TRAFFIC

The following is the anticipated schedule on VT Route 116/Hinesburg Road for the week beginning November 13, 2017:

 Monday thru Friday – 7:00am to 5:00pm:

  • Landscaping work continues within the construction zone.

Motorists should expect little to no delays.

 


The following is the anticipated schedule on VT Route 116/Hinesburg Road for the week beginning Monday, November 20, 2017.

Monday thru Friday:

  • Weather permitting, landscaping work within the construction zone.

Traffic control will be present all week allowing for periodic one lane of alternating traffic within the construction zone.  Motorists should expect minor delays.

  • Cut up Span 1 truss for recycling
  • Complete Pier 2 cofferdam and continue excavation
  • Begin pre-excavation of Pier 3 cofferdam

  • SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC BOTH NB & SB EXPECTED DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD FOR THE THANKSGIVING DAY HOLIDAY TRAVEL.

 Golden Hill Road activities:

Monday thru Friday – Daytime:

  • Complete Pier 2 cofferdam and continue excavation
  • Continue assembly of pier forms

 


The posted speed limit within the construction zone will be reduced to 55mph and will be strictly enforced.

MIDDLEBURY-FERRISBURGH – ROUTE 7

MIDDLEBURY-FERRISBURGH – ROUTE 7

U.S. Route 7 from approximately Lime Kiln Road, Ferrisburgh proceeding north to the Ferrisburgh/Charlotte Town line along with the pavement of the bridge in New Haven. This project will consist of prepping the existing pavement to include grinding, crack sealing, pot hole repairs then resurfacing with ¾” pavement and pavement markings along with other incidental items throughout the project. The expected completion date is July 28, 2017 with work from Middlebury to approximately Lime Kiln Road, New Haven to be completed by July 28, 2017.

This project is complete!

VT ROUTE 2A / PARK STREET – ESSEX

VT ROUTE 2A / PARK STREET – ESSEX

Beginning the week of April 17, 2017 the Agency of Transportation in conjunction with Frank W. Whitcomb Construction Corp. (FWW) will begin construction on Route 2A – Park Street from the Winooski River Bridge to approximately 200′ past North Street.  This project will consist of grinding of the existing pavement, placing two courses of new pavement, drainage and manhole structure adjustments, pedestrian crosswalk improvements, signal upgrades, new signs, new line markings and other incidental items.

There are different hours of operations for the work to be completed in the listed sections are as follows:

  • Winooski River Bridge to Mill Street 6:00pm to  6:00am
  • Mill Street to the 1st set of RR tracks 8:30am to 10:00pm
  • 2nd set of RR tracks to Lincoln Place 10:00pm to 6:00am
  • Lincoln Place to 200’ past North Street 8:30am to 10:00pm

Note: There will not be any work between the 2 sets of railroad tracks.

Traffic control will present during all operations that directly impact both the traveling public and pedestrians.
