The following is an update of the construction to take place for the week beginning Monday, November 4, 2019.

Southbound I-91 bridge activities:

Monday through Saturday:

  • Continue work on placement of Pier 1 cap
  • Work continues on the southbound abutment (#1) approach
  • Weather permitting, begin girder erection
  • Continue maintenance of traffic control devises

Daily rolling roadblocks 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for southbound motorists starting at Exit 7, expect approximately a 30-minute delay.

The following is an update of the construction to take place for the week beginning Monday, October 28, 2019.

Southbound I-91 bridge activities:

Monday through Saturday:

  • Continue work on Pier 2
  • Place Pier 1 cap
  • Work continues on the southbound abutment (#1) approach
  • Work continues on the northbound abutment (#2) approach
  • Continue receiving girders onsite
  • Continue maintenance of traffic control devises

Wednesday through Friday:

  • Weather permitting, begin setting girders on Pier 3 utilizing the rolling roadblocks allowing to facilitate the girder erection. 
  • At approximately 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. starting at Exit 7, motorists can expect a rolling roadblock for approximately a 30-minute delay to allow for beam deliveries. These deliveries will be through Friday and continue the following Monday through Friday.

THE NEWLY INSTALLED LANE HAS BEEN OPENED TO TRAFFIC.  MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION UNTIL THE TEMPORARY PAVEMENT MARKINGS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.

The following is the anticipated daytime work schedule for the week beginning Saturday, October 26, 2019:

Saturday, Monday through Friday:

  • Weather permitting, additional installation of pavement markings may be installed
  • Sidewalk work on the north corner at James Brown Drive
  • General cleanup work in anticipation of winter shutdown

Please note the work schedule will not be everyday or all week. Scheduling is subject to weather and scheduling with subcontractors.

Motorists should have minimal affect by this work.  Two-way traffic will be maintained.

  • Continue miscellaneous items throughout to include final signs, mailbox adjustments and guardrail work.

Traffic control will be present where necessary allowing for one-lane of alternating travel within the construction zones.  The speed limit will be enforced!

  • Continue widening work on James Brown Drive
  • Curb and structure work around Morgan Parkway
  • General cleanup work in anticipation of winter shut down

Monday and Tuesday: – 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.:

  • Weather permitting, shoulder paving along Route 2A

Motorists should expect minimal delays.  Two-way traffic will be maintained.  Pedestrians will be detoured around the work area.
