ESSEX, JERICHO-RICHMOND VT ROUTE 117

The Vermont Agency of Transportation along with Pike Industries Inc. will begin this 2018 – 2019 roadway rehabilitation project of VT Route 117 beginning in Essex where the State Highway begin to the intersection Route 2 in Richmond the week beginning June 18, 2018.  The anticipated completion date is October 11, 2019.

This project will consist of rehabilitation of the existing roadway sub-base, new traveling surface with shoulder widening (where feasible), drainage, guardrail and signage upgrades, new signal at the intersection of 289 off ramp and VT 117 along with other incidental items throughout the project.

During the construction period, motorists should expect traffic flow to be maintained at all times with one-way alternating traffic during construction hours with control present.

Motorists should also expect to be traveling on a gravel surface from approximately mid-July 2018 through August 2018.from Essex where the State Highway begins to the Jericho town line.

For the week beginning Monday,  July 16, 2018:

 Monday thru Friday:

  • Continue installing underdrain from Tiffany Lane to Sand Hill Road.
  • Begin culvert work from Tiffany Lane to Sand Hill Road.
  • ROADWAY MAINTENANCE THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT!

Motorists please be aware that the roadway surface will be rough for a duration of time.  Crews will keep up with the maintenance to the best of their ability.  Drive slowly! 

Commuting motorists should seek alternate routes.  Expect delays during peak hours!

•  9:30am Cold planning continues from Sand Hill Road to N. Williston Road.

– Cold planning will continue between VT-289 on ramp and Sand Hill Road.
– Continued underdrain and culvert work between Sand Hill Road and the Essex/Jericho town line.

Traffic control will be present allowing for one lane of alternating travel. Expect delays.

 Saturday thru Friday:

  • Continue installing underdrain from N. Williston Road to the intersection of VT 289.
  • Shoulder cleanup from VT 289 interchange to approx.. Tiffany Lane.

 Monday thru Friday:

  • Milling to begin from approx.. Tiffany Lane, Essex to Sand Hill Road with VT 289 interchange area gapped out. This work will grind down the existing roadway 4” – motorists should prepare for rough surface conditions.

Motorists should expect long delays and may want to seek alternate routes. 

Friday, July 06, 2018:

Underdrain work to continue between Essex/Jericho Town line and Sand Hill Road.

  • Underdrain work resumes between the Essex/Jericho town line and Sand Hill Road.
    Motorists should expect delays!  Traffic control will be present!

Tuesday, July 3, 2018 until Noon:

The anticipated work schedule is as follows:
– Continued tree limb trimming between N. Williston Road and VT 289 intersection.
 
Motorists may choose to seek alternate routes as they can expect delays during peak hours. Traffic control will be present allowing for 1-lane of alternating traffic within the construction zones.

Friday, June 29, 2018 on VT 117

The anticipated construction activities (weather permitting) are as follows:

  • Prepping and paving the milled surface within the VT-289 on/off ramps.
  • Continued underdrain work between N. Williston Road and the Essex/Jericho town line.

Motorists may choose to seek alternate routes as they can expect delays during peak hours. Traffic control will be present allowing for 1-lane of alternating traffic within the construction zones.
